Update: DIY, Fun, Colorful, Pool Bath Refresh

I have been working on the pool bathroom refresh for about 2 weeks now, so I thought I would post an update. Almost everything on the list, is a DIY project, and all are almost complete. I have suffered a few setbacks, as most projects do, but I am almost to the finish line. Thank goodness!

DIY Vanity

Sometimes I get frustrated when a project is taking longer than I think it should. My husband is an Engineer and works in commercial construction, so he completes most of the bigger projects in our home. Both of us are big DIY’ers. We enjoy it. Living with my engineer for many years, I have learned they have an ego. I am here to tell ya, they definitely have an ego. They feel (well my hubby anyway) no one can do anything as well as they can, so he wont’ let anyone do anything for him. Even his spouse! Here’s the thing…..I am a capable, educated, tenacious, hard-working, DIY momma, and I can do a-lotta things well. Don’t get me wrong, he does trust me, and knows I can get it done, but he would rather do it for me/us, to make absolutely sure it is done perfectly. For example, I wanted to take the medicine cabinet down, to be able to hang the wallpaper easier. He actually told me to wait for him to get back from New York and he could do it! Bless his heart, doesn’t he know I can use a drill?!

Anyway, the man travels almost every week for work, so I ignore him, take matters into my own hands, and do what I can to finish up the projects. I watch build.com, YouTube, and read tutorials, to find the resources I need to complete the tasks I feel I can handle. I have learned how to cut and hang drywall, how to apply a skim coat to make a wall smooth, how to use drywall anchors, put furniture together, hang floating shelves, and so much more. If you are determined to do something, you will figure out a way to get it done. Or at least I will! Currently I have 8 rooms in my home which are in the 95% club. Have you heard of this club? You know, everything is 95% complete. Are any of you there with me? I honestly don’t know what I would do, if I had just one room completely finished. I mean…..what would that look like??? I can only imagine the heavens parting, and angels singing. And I would be doing a happy dance. FOR REAL!

As you can see, I have completed a lot, but not quite there yet. A little less than 95%. The vanity counter top will be completed this weekend. The fumes from the product are very toxic, so I am shipping my kiddo’s off to Grammy’s house, to keep them safe, and outta my hair! I plan to video a tutorial of the counter top paint project, and will post it with the reveal, that is, if everything works out the way I intend it too. Fingers crossed!

This fun, bold, and colorful, pool bath refresh has been fun to work on. What do you think about my progress? What DIY projects are you working on in your home? Post in the comments, I would love to hear from you. Lets motivate each other!
